Her cold, cunning personality and lovely theme music caught my attention once she began to move into the spotlight and I ended up taking quite a liking to her. The fact that she's able to command the respect and loyalty of a team of homicidal maniacs while playing the part of a harmless old alchemy instructor impressed me to no end. And really, who would have thought an old woman was the one leading the Homunculi?
Cannon Character Info: Dante, the Shepherd of Sins, is the leader of the Homunculi and main antagonist of the Fullmetal Alchemist anime. She has pulled the strings of history from behind the curtain for centuries, ruining innumerable lives and murdering thousands of innocent people for the sake of prolonging her life. Dante considers herself above the human race, contemptuously viewing them as nothing more than animals, and believes she is protecting mankind by keeping the Philosopher's Stone from their grasp.
The details of the majority of Dante's life are for the most part unknown, save for a few pivotal points. Four hundred years before the series began, she was in a relationship with Hohenheim of Light. Whether or not the two were actually married isn't known, but they produced a son, who died prematurely of mercury poisoning and was resurrected as the homunculus Envy by Hohenheim. She and Hohenheim created the first Philosopher's Stone by using the lives of those condemned as witches and those dying of the plague. Hohenheim nearly died following the Stone's creation, but Dante managed to save him by attaching his soul to the body of another man. It was then that the lovers discovered "eternal life."
Dante was abandoned by Hohenheim long before the series began, leaving her a fragment of the last Philosopher's Stone they created. Following her abandonment, she began creating homunculi (Greed, Pride, and possibly Gluttony) and gathering those created by others. After feeding them Red Stones to provide them with consciousness and a human form, she convinced the homunculi that they need the Philosopher's Stone to become human, effectively turning them into her minions. Although she tends to treat her sins with kindness and motherly affection, she isn't beyond subjecting them to nightmarish tortures if they displease her.
Through Pride she controls Amestris and uses the nation to commit slaughters and instigate wars in order to create a Philosopher's Stone. She is responsible for many conflicts, such as the Ishbalan War and the invasion of Lior. Dante is also responsible for the slaughter of an entire city where Central now stands. She uses the city below Central as her primary headquarters, but has been known to give commands from her mansion in Dubilith.
Dante is a ruthless, unscrupulous woman who knows no mercy when dealing with people who interfere with her quest for immortality. Be warned - it is not wise to meddle in her affairs.
RP example of you being him/her:
Her almost nonexistent lips curved into a devious smile as she watched her maid reorganize her plethora of alchemical texts. The old woman's dark hues perused over Lyra's petite frame, admiring every aspect of her perfectly formed body. Her silky ebony hair, her misty violet eyes, her milky white skin - she couldn't wait to wear them.
But she would have to, unfortunately. There was still work to be done as Dante of the Deep Forest.
